Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to bring about a balance in the body’s systems. It is not a new therapy as there is evidence of it being used for thousands of years. Traces have been found in Egyptian tombs and in China and India.

The Essential Oils enter the body by two main routes; the olfactory system – triggers the central nervous system when inhaled, or the skin – permeates through to capillaries and cell tissue.

The oils work on different levels both physically (the skin) and emotionally, (triggering the limbic system – the part of the brain that controls emotions).

Each essential oil has different therapeutic properties, so every client is treated differently, using their own unique blend of essential oils tailored to their specific symptoms and preferences.

What Happens

during an aromatherapy treatment?

You will be asked questions about your medical history, general health and lifestyle. This will help your practitioner to decide which essential oils are most appropriate for you as an individual. In certain circumstances the practitioner may wish to contact your GP, with your permission, to inform him or her that you are receiving aromatherapy treatments. After selecting and blending appropriate essential oils, they will usually be applied in combination with massage.
